Whitney Elizabeth Houston is a artist who was born in Newark, New Jersey on the 9th August 1963. Their parents include gospel stars Cissy Houston(n e Emily Lee Drinkard), and John Russell Houston Jr. Whitney's cousin Dionne warwick is also a singer. In her early years, she sang in her New Hope Baptist Church Choir in Newark. By the time she was 15years old, Houston was singing professionally backing vocals with her mother in Chaka Khan's 1978 song Im Every Woman. In the following years, she was a backing vocals to Jermaine Jackson and Lou Rawls as well as her mom.
