April Ross
April Ross has won more than one medal at the Olympics. She is among a few female beach volleyball players who achieve this feat. Alix Kallineman will be competing with April Ross Tokyo in order to claim her third gold medal over the next few days. Ross would like to do more than just her first Olympic medal. At 39, this could be Ross' final opportunity to claim the Olympic gold. However, she remains optimistic that the most important medals are at hand. If we do our best or even play properly, I'm sure we'll get that gold medal Ross spoke of via NBC Boston. That's why I'm taking some luck and hope for the best. Ross was born in 1982 and was raised within Costa Mesa California with her mother and sister, first began competing in sports at Newport Harbor High School. Ross went on to play in numerous activities as a student at Newport Harbor High School. As a student-athlete she was also a participant in indoor volleyball and track. She was clearly the best when it came to indoor volleyball. At the time of her high school volleyball season as per her college biography she played as middle blocker, an outside settingter, and hitter. The award was presented to her as the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the Year in 1999 for her efforts. Her skills in volleyball earned her the Orange County Athlete of the Year award in 2000. Ross and Klineman are performing their duties as of the year 2017. However, Ross was already a respected player on the scene of beach volleyball before Klineman and Ross joined forces. She was a winner of many major events playing two partners. One of which is famous for her volleyball skills. From 2007 until 2013, she was partnered by Jennifer Kessy, who is the coach she is currently. Together with Kessy Ross, the duo won an Olympic Title in 2009 while competing on the international circuit. In 2012, the team were awarded silver medals at the London Olympic Games. Misty Maytreanor's iconic team along with Kerri Jennings took home the gold. The fate of the matter was that Ross became Walsh Jennings' new partner in the event that May-Treanor decided to retire. The two went on take home the bronze medal for beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in 2016. After high school and many years before hitting the sand in her professional career, Ross balled out for the Trojans at USC while university. Her time at USC was impressive. It was her time to be an All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in the year 2000. Furthermore, she assisted her Trojans in reaching the Final Four. In her sophomore season, she suffered a devastating personal loss but still able to be named an All-American. For her two final years she led the Trojans to the top of the hill to win consecutive national titles. Individually she had cemented herself as an all-time great having won this year's Honda Sports Award as the most outstanding female college volleyball player. Ross was an major in international relations at USC. Unfortunately Ross mom Margie didn't get to watch her daughter ascend to the most elite levels of beach volleyball superstardom. Margie, Ross's mother, passed away in the year 2001. Ross was still an USC sophomore. The cancer was diagnosed as breast. She continues to cherish her late parent. Margie continues to be an inspiration while on the beaches and in all her lives.
