Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She was a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is an author, television personality, philanthropist as well as the founder and editor of The Huffington Post. Born in Greece and moved to England at age 16. When she attended Cambridge University, she graduated with an MA in Economics. The infamous debating society The Cambridge Union was her first president and she took it at the age of 21. A conservative syndicated blogger following her graduation, she became a voice of the Huffington Post. The celebrity she enjoyed allowed her to persuade a number of stars to voice their views on current events, as well as politics and culture. Arianna gained notoriety in 2003, when she ran as an independent candidate in the California recall elections to replace Governor Davis. Also, she was the head of a Detroit fuel-efficient car project. Her name was voted as the most influential women in media according to Forbes in 2009, and was awarded the 12th place in that list. In the same year Guardian named her on the top 100 media list. AOL, Inc. made her the President of their media division in 2011, after they acquired The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post also included other AOL brands such as Engadget AOLmusic Style list or Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and manager Konstantinos along with his partner Elli Stasinopoulos. She was extremely close to her father. However, it was the relationship she had with her mother which has shaped her. Even as a young girl she demonstrated leadership skills which she is still renowned for. In the year she turned 16years old, she emigrated from the United States to the United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. In the time of her studies she was a member of Cambridge Union. Cambridge Union debating group where she was elected the first woman and the sole foreign president. In 1972, her master's in Economics was awarded. She was a journalist as well as a host on TV and columnist upon her graduation. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on an episode of Face the music.
